Bible Study on Will You Trust God For His Grace, When There Is No Wind Or Rain But There Is Water according to 2 Kings 3:8-25

Will you dig ditches as said God and trust God or will you dig wells to tap into underground water source as per your own knowledge. Will you let God fill your ditches with water when you are asleep even there is no sign of wind or rain.

According to the Bible the history in 2 Kings: 3. 4. Now Mesha king of Moab was a sheep-master; and he rendered unto the king of Israel the wool of a hundred thousand lambs, and of a hundred thousand rams. 5. But it came to pass, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel. 6. And king Jehoram went out of Samaria at that time, and mustered all Israel. 7. And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab hath rebelled against me: wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle? And he said, I will go up: I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses. The above depicts that when a strong and  authoritarian leader dies, all of his forged empire crushes into pieces. Where former allies are now enemies and former generals are now renegades. As the country get thorn apart by the rebellion, some former ill treated factions will take opportunity of this weakness for uprising and seek revenge. A sight portraying the ugliness and brutality of humanity.

Among the servants of the King of Israel, there was a servant with a heart for God. He was not a general but only a servant. To be great, you do not need to be great, for we have a great To God who does great things for us as witnessed in 2 Kings: 3. 8. And he said, Which way shall we go up? And he answered, The way of the wilderness of Edom. 9. So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom; and they made a circuit of seven days’ journey: and there was no water for the host, nor for the beasts that followed them. 10. And the king of Israel said, Alas! for Jehovah hath called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab. 11. But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah, that we may inquire of Jehovah by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah. Elisha did more credential than all the 3 Kings of Israel. Because he was willing pour water on Elijah’s hand and for some other people, which is considered a trivial task to many. It’s all about servanthood not just being under the spotlight. Because too many people wants to be in the spotlight and not laboring in the ministry behind the stage. When serving in a ministry, always treat it as God’s Calling and not as a career literally.

Radical plans come when you go radical for God first. Go back to the basic in seeking God. Jesus and God can connect young people in their presence better than any church program can. Soaked in the presence of God, radical programs will come as seen in 2 Kings: 3. 14. And Elisha said, As Jehovah of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor see thee. 15. But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of Jehovah came upon him.

God asked to dig ditches not well. If we dig well instead, it becomes so close between trusting God and playing God. When God give us instruction, we always have a choice to obey or not. In either case the outcomes will be totally different between a winner and a loser as depicted in 2 Kings: 3. 17. For thus saith Jehovah, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, and ye shall drink, both ye and your cattle and your beasts. When going gets though, the though gets going. There will be no rain, no wind but there will still be water. Sometimes we are faced with circumstances that doubts our belief on what God can do. And sometimes we might think that the are too many fish in the same pond, may be no more food or opportunity left for me. You are blessed either in the city or in the valley, but you are already blessed. For God loves you more than the birds because they don’t sow or reap. God did not send rain, but send only water that look like blood so to confuse the enemy. For God loves you and have big plans for you, it’s about you.

God don’t want you just to have a position but influence, because water is easy stuff to God. You just need to trust His grace as depicted in 2 Kings: 3. 22. And they rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone upon the water, and the Moabites saw the water over against them as red as blood: 23. and they said, This is blood; the kings are surely destroyed, and they have smitten each man his fellow: now therefore, Moab, to the spoil. 24. And when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before them; and they went forward into the land smiting the Moabites. 25. And they beat down the cities; and on every good piece of land they cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the fountains of water, and felled all the good trees, until in Kir-hareseth [only] they left the stones thereof; howbeit the slingers went about it, and smote it.

God gives grace to humble people like Elisha. People with a humble heart and mind that resists proud, will receive more grace from God. We must admit that we cannot in all our circumstances but through Him we can. It is not about the big things, it’s all about God’s blessings. It’s not about the place, it’s all about you and people.
