Fear them not! that our God and His Son has already gone before us and delivered the enemy into our hands. What challenges are we wrestling in your lives? Is our problems seem overwhelming and unsurmountable? Why are we still stuck in these rot and not being able to defeat the enemies? Joshua: 10. 8. And Jehovah said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thy hands; there shall not a man of them stand before thee. The below biblical stories about prophet Joshua’s battles is the reflection of the battles in our daily lives. The battles we face in our daily lives are many and some are trivial but some may be critical. By applying Joshua’s principles of victories, we just simply need to trust God, obey God, pray to God and fight victoriously with God.
The greatest battle of our lives is in fact not the enemy we face but ourselves. There are 3 main enemies that we must wage war against. The enemy around us is God’s creations that are lost and gone to the dark side, the enemy within us is the shadow, fear and experiences of our past and the enemy above us belongs to God’s enemy in the spiritual world.
Alliance with God is the first and most important step to take before matching against your enemy. God and His children can even work hand in hand to achieve victory and defeat God’s enemy as reenacted in Joshua: 10. 10. And Jehovah discomfited them before Israel, and he slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them by the way of the ascent of Beth-horon, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah. 11. And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, while they were at the descent of Beth-horon, that Jehovah cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more who died with the hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.
Use every heavenly weapon and tactics at your disposal by God. It is mentioned in the Holy Bible about the fulfillment of a prophecy in the Book of Jashar; would you believe when Joshua prayed to God for help, He can also make the stuck in the sky of Gibeon longer, perhaps the illusion of a double sun when the moon also got stuck at Aijalon’s sky and made the daylight hours longer in order for prophet Joshua and the Israelites win the battle on the same day instead of having to fight a night battle or even a protracted seige in the Battle with the Amorites as depicted in Joshua: 10. 12. Then spake Joshua to Jehovah in the day when Jehovah delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel; and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; And thou, Moon, in the valley of Aijalon. 13. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, Until the nation had avenged themselves of their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jashar? And the sun stayed in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. 14. And there was no day like that before it or after it, that Jehovah hearkened unto the voice of a man: for Jehovah fought for Israel. In a nut shell is that we must pray to God in good times and trial times. For our prayer bring us up to God so that He can hear.
Do not be afraid to pray and ask of His blessing and good things that are according to His will. Of course God will only reward those who not only have unstaggering belief in Him and are bold in their actions in the showing off their faith on Him. For our loving heavenly Father wants us to trust Him in His ways and plans and He knows what good things to bless us in life as taught in 1 John: 5. 14. And this is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: 15. and if we know that he heareth us whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him. In contrary, apostle Matthew contrast against the loving and good God that even the evil and wicked parents also knows how to care, nuture and give good things to their children as read in Matthew: 7. 11. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Matching forward into the promises of God as He has already delivered for you.
Joshua southern conquest as depicted in Joshua: 10. 29. And Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, unto Libnah, and fought against Libnah: 30. and Jehovah delivered it also, and the king thereof, into the hand of Israel; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining in it; and he did unto the king thereof as he had done unto the king of Jericho. 31. And Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, unto Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it: 32. and Jehovah delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel; and he took it on the second day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein, according to all that he had done to Libnah. 33. Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining. 34. And Joshua passed from Lachish, and all Israel with him, unto Eglon; and they encamped against it, and fought against it; 35. and they took it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword; and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish. 36. And Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, unto Hebron; and they fought against it: 37. and they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but he utterly destroyed it, and all the souls that were therein. 38. And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir, and fought against it: 39. and he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining: as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to the king thereof; as he had done also to Libnah, and to the king thereof.
As Christian we face daily battles in our lives whether be it small or mundane or huge and critical. As the problems and situations varies so does the attacks and positions of the enemy. In spite of these our mission and objectives is to still to focus on Christ Jesus for He is able to bring us out of our circumstances victoriously.
Remember that our fight with God is to conquer and be victorious as depicted in Joshua: 10. 16. And these five kings fled, and hid themselves in the cave at Makkedah. 22. Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring forth those five kings unto me out of the cave. We need to deal with the ‘kings’ controlling our lives. By confronting our situations, sins and addictions I.e. a bad medical report, draining treasures, sex, lust, adultery, murder, idol worship, devil transaction, demon torture, etc.
Drag our problem before God and seek Him for solutions.
Proclaim the victories of God upon our lives.
In God alone we trust for our battles against our strongholds as the battles belongs to God.
Joshua: 10. 42. And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because Jehovah, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.
From the humbleness and meekness of Christ Jesus, like Father like Son, our God is also a humble God. For our good God does not punishes those who forgets to praise Him, but He certainly rewards those who seeks Him humbles themselves before Him and gives Him all the glory and praises as advised by apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians: 15. 57. but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. In the end it is God’s fight in the end not ours. Why not stop and ask God to intervene. Ask for a miracle from God. Listen and obey to His voice. Let God fight for us as our shoulders are to small to carry the heavy burden. Let God gives us the peace to win every battles in our lives.
