The sling and stone is just not a weapon to David but a reminder that he once defeated a bear and lion, that the Lord fought for him and the spirit of the Father Lord. The small war of today is the anchor of your fight tomorrow; the ceiling of today is the challenge of tomorrow; the fear of today is the overcometh of tomorrow. Never under estimate your small wins and be thankful to God even how small it may seem.
Sometimes, the enemy of God like to put all sort of things onto you and overwhelm you, so that you fumble, fall, grow tired and weary until you starting to doubt and turn away from God and become dependant on these people for assistance and favors; instead of trusting in the one true God and His son Christ Jesus. Sometimes your enemies and the devil might even comes at you with swords or poisonous or ambush or traps or strongholds. However our God has given us the power of the Holy Spirit, that is mighty to tear down the strongholds of the enemy; for our God can use back the same sword and poison that the enemy use at you. Nonetheless, it requires strong faith that our God has already conquered the high walls of Jericho and given us the victory. The only question is do you have the perseverance to wait on the Lord’s miracles to happen? We have been taught by a prophet on how to trust and prove in the weapons of Jehovah in 1 Samuel: 17. 32. And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine. 33. And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth. 34. And David said unto Saul, Thy servant was keeping his father’s sheep; and when there came a lion, or a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock, 35. I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth; and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. 36. Thy servant smote both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. 37. And David said, Jehovah that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and Jehovah shall be with thee. 38. And Saul clad David with his apparel, and he put a helmet of brass upon his head, and he clad him with a coat of mail. 39. And David girded his sword upon his apparel, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him. 40. And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in the shepherd’s bag which he had, even in his wallet; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine. 41. And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.
Christian do not. run away from their adversities, because they know who is behind them. We must stand fast and face the challenges head on. David did not run away from Goliath but run towards the 9 feet giant Philistine in full armour with a shield as vividly portrayed in the battle scene in 1 Samuel: 17. 48. And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. 49. And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead; and the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell upon his face to the earth. 50. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.
In conclusion, we must ignore the situations and not run away from our Giants. Instead learning from David who compared Goliath with God. The lies and fear of the enemy has no foot hold in our lives. We must invoke our faith and know who is with you and stop listening to the thorns and lies of the enemy. Initiate your trust and obey in God, that He is stronger, bigger and powerful than the enemy. We will not shy in the shadow of our past but shine in the promise of victory given by God. Let us through our battles bear many new testimonies in tearing down enemy strongholds in your name and give You all the glory as the supreme commander and Lord of legions of heaven.
