It is sometimes difficult to love and serve others. There are 4 things needed in order to love people. As Jesus did not come to be served but to serve others. In His most difficult hours He still put others first and serve others, because He love them. We must modeled against the saviour. His In a church there should be only 1 category of people I.e. servant.
Value people comprises of listen, linger, lending a hand of service or prayer and learn how to value that person. People who communicates need to find the common ground of interest and passion I.e. serving God, bible study topic.
Matthew: 20. 24. And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation concerning the two brethren. 25. But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 26. Not so shall it be among you: but whosoever would become great among you shall be your minister; 27. and whosoever would be first among you shall be your servant: 28. even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Motivated by love and grace, not by selfishness or indignant, and not to impress others. We need to adjust our values and understand how the Kingdom of God operates. To become leaders we first need to serve and be a servant. A servant is a person that binds his/er heart and will to that of his/er master and follows every instruction as given by the master as instructed in John: 13. 1. Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus knowing that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto his Father, having loved his own that were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
Possess a security is knowing He is from God decent and made a human servant to serve others and to pay the wages of sins for others. The secure servant wants to add value to others whereas the insecure receive value from others. As depicted in John: 13. 5. Then he poureth water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. In essence, servanthood of God is to be able to serve others without feeling insecure because you feel secure and anchored in God’s love and grace.
Possessing humility, Peter needed to realized he needs to be humble because he was upset that Jesus who is the Lord and Rabbi is washing other’s feet. Peter did not mind others or the servant of the house to do the washing but he could not imagine Jesus picking up the basin. Servant leaders also have the humility to served. Basin leadership is seen I.e. in Pontius Pilate took up the basin and put himself first because he did not want to have anything to do with the dirty decision I.e. the crucification of Jesus Christ.
None of the diciples were prepared to wash each other’s feet. Everybody is saying it can’t be me but who is me. Servanthood get rid of title and position in serving others and truly diciple others in their journey. As seen in John: 13. 8. Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. We cannot serve others from a distant. We need to get close and down with the person we are serving. All of you cloth your self will humility in order to be a great servant. In order to be a great leader, one must be a great servant leader. In reflection, Jesus did not come to be served by His diciples, but to serve and save all people irrespective of their demographics, race, religion, creed, status or wealth. Jesus said to His diciples during the last supper that they to shall serve all people and follow the servant leader example which He has set for them.
Servant leaders teach servanthood by example as Jesus taught His disciples the Jesus way. Jesus way is all about servant leadership that focuses on others, serving and helping others instead of exalting one greatness, power and authority over others as in John: 13. 12. So when he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and sat down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? 13. Ye call me, Teacher, and, Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. 14. If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15. For I have given you an example, that ye also should do as I have done to you. 16. Verily, verily, I say unto you, a servant is not greater than his lord; neither one that is sent greater than he that sent him. 17. If ye know these things, blessed are ye if ye do them. Servant leaders teach others to serve others and become a servant. When we serve we stay together and build a strong and deep relationship. You all will be blessed.
People do what people see but Jesus ways are very different from the world’s way. Many might think well it is easier said than done because we as humans have memory recalls, experiences, emotions and feelings, the difficult situation gets amplified many times especially when dealing with your enemy or foe that hates, despises, attacks you and seek to destroys all that you are and believed in or betrayal of your previous trust in them. Simply put it, just do your best in accordance with the Bible and pray for the grace of God and salvation. God will find a way according to His will and perfect timing. Amen.
